Overview

The Zimswitch Head Office is a contemporary three-storey commercial development designed as a scalable, future-ready workplace. Architectural Planning Studio (APS) collaborated closely with Zimswitch to translate their vision into a facility that reflects the organization’s professionalism, technological identity, and long-term growth. The building currently accommodates 40 staff, with the flexibility to expand to 100 as operational needs evolve.

Organized around a central atrium, the design promotes visual connectivity, collaboration, and natural environmental control. This internal spine links vertical circulation and shared amenities while strengthening orientation throughout the building. Two office wings frame this light-filled core, housing open-plan workspaces, executive offices, meeting rooms, breakout areas, a data center, and a café. A first-floor bridge reinforces departmental interaction, while a rooftop terrace encourages informal meetings and staff wellbeing.

At ground level, a circular driveway guides visitors to a double-height reception on the east, while deliveries are managed discreetly from the west. The partially sunken undercroft parking integrates with the site’s natural slope, and the removal of the boundary wall creates a landscaped green zone to the south.

The architectural expression combines a concrete structural frame with a laser-cut steel facade and “hit-and-miss” brickwork, enabling filtered daylight and passive ventilation. Sustainable strategies—including stack ventilation through the atrium, underground earth-tube cooling, exposed concrete thermal mass, clerestory glazing, and solar panels ensure a climate-responsive, energy-efficient workplace that balances corporate identity with environmental performance.
