Overview
APS were asked by the RNE, to review current facilities with specific regard to a public meeting room, additional ablution facilities and a new and improved ‘front of house’ layout taking into account the stringent requirements for security and access control.
Our design approach was conceived with the intention of working within the existing structural framework, and where extension was absolutely necessary, we would respect the existing architectural language as sensitively as possible. The meeting room was positioned neatly between the two protruding wings, and in addition to large french doors which could be opened up for corporate entertainment, incorporated data, audio visual and communications services invisibly integrated within floors and walls. The reception was re-imagined to incorporate a waiting area, public access toilets, and the administrative bulk of the building was secured as per requirements.
