Overview

History: APS has completed numerous projects for Barclays Bank Zimbabwe over the last 25 years. Starting with a Gokwe branch in 1986, APS has designed various projects for Barclays all over Zimbabwe. A branch re-design and standardisation was rolled out in 1995 which included refurbishment of 25 branches and over 20 ATMs nationwide.

Description: In 2011 APS were commissioned to re-design several existing public banking hall sites across Zimbabwe, and implement a corporate re-branding strategy in line with regional design guidance.

Challenge: In consultation with the Barclays development manager we surveyed each site and identified relevant constraints and opportunities for each location. Each site presented different challenges and required individually tailored responses.

Solution: By modelling each banking site in REVIT 3D we were able to show the client accurate spatial, material and aesthetic interior design responses to each site. Front of house banking halls required new security lobby entrances and all teller stations and managers offices were re-configured. Back of house servicing and commercial / bulk tellers were also re-configured and secure (cash in transit) vehicular access optimised.
