Overview

Marks involvement with APS has spanned 3 consecutive generations.

Post Graduation he joined the newly founded practice of Architectural and Planning Studio, Zimbabwe, under the guidance of Roy Densem and Philip Smith. In 1983 continued his architectural experience in Switzerland for two years before returning in 1985, subsequently becoming a Partner in 1986. Andy Van de Ruit joined the partnership in 1987, followed by Roy Densem’s retirement in 1988. This partnership flourished until Andy’s tragic death in 2004, when Mark relocated to Cape Town, and the practice temporarily closed owing to the economic stagnation of the time.

From 2011 Mark entered into partnership with Graham Cochrane, followed closely by Geoff Fox, both  enthusiastic Architects with extensive local and international experience, to re-shape and steer the practice into its next chapter.

Mark continues to take a keen interest in design projects and the running of the practice, providing mentorship and strategic guidance. He continues to practice as an Architect in Cape Town, SA in association with Fabians Architects, where he has completed numerous successful projects.
